1807 DRAPED BUST HALF CENT + GOOD CONDITION - UNGRADED - USPS 1st class delivery Mintage: 476,000 NGC COMMENTS: The half cents dated 1807 were coined on planchets imported from Matthew Boulton & Company in England, as were all half cents of the Draped Bust type from 1803 onward. Only a single die pair is known for this date, and this essentially proves that the published mintage figure is too high, as the Mint could not then achieve nearly half a million strikes from each die. Walter Breen suggested a net mintage of 38,000+ after deducting those struck in 1807 but dated 1806. This figure seems too small, given the general availability of circulated 1807 half cents, and the truth probably lies somewhere in-between the extremes. Mint State examples are very scarce.
