    Description

In fabulous antique condition. These Bouilon Cups and Saucers set was made in the very early 1900's - possibly before. Markings on the bottom of the pieces date them as such.
They are in beautiful condition - considering their age. A small amount of gold wear - as can be expected (see pics). 1 cup has a chip on the bottom and a hairline from base to bottom of handle, it's virtually invisible (see pics). Decorated with delicate pink roses and blue peonies - truly of the era. Made of almost translucent porcelain.
The Fontenay pattern features pink roses and blue flowers on a white background accented by dramatic gold trim. The bottoms are ink stamped reading:

    Pattern name: The Fontenay
In 1881, C. A. Selzer opened a business, on lower Euclid Avenue, that was the show place of Cleveland.  It was stocked with imported china and glass, silver, furniture, furnishings, and decorative art that made it a veritable museum of the Old World.  Selzer later moved his famous galleries to the Hickox Building, then to the Bulkley Building, and they were eventually taken over by the George Bowman Company.
