    Additional Info
The Millersburg Glass Company officially opened and poured glass for the first time on May 20, 1909. The company was built by John Fenton who had decided to leave the Fenton Art Glass Company to "strike out on his own". For the first few months in 1909, the Millersburg Glass Company produced beautiful crystal and some carnival glass in amethyst, green and a soft marigold.
The first carnival had a satin finish much like the other carnival makers because John was of course, using the Fenton process. After 7 months of experimentation the now famous "radium" finish was introduced. This very high gloss, radium finish was an instant success and Millersburg continued to use this process until their demise in September of 1911.
Here we have a beautiful example of a Green Radium Hanging Cherries Ice Cream Bowl. This was produced in 1911. Examples of this pattern are found either in satin or radium finish, this particular bowl has a radium finish. The back of the bowl has a wide panel back. This is known as an ice cream bowl because of its shape - perfect shape and size for a center fruit bowl. The glass is heavy and very clear with a brilliant shine. A rarity to own and covet. This is a beautifully executed glass bowl perfect to display or use.
Exceptional bowl in that it is no chips, no cracks, no scratches. No evidence of repair or modification was detected.Any non-perfections are from the firing/manufacturing process.
