    Description

I am the Original Owner of this bobbin
It hasn't been used, very often
I recently discovered it, packed away, with my other Lace Bobbin treasures
George Washington was an American political leader, military general, statesman, and founding father who served as the first president of the United States, from 1789 to 1797
He passed away 14 December 1799
In 1999 ... The "George Washington Bobbin" commemorated the 200th anniversary of his death & the lacemakers who labored over two centuries ago, to produce the bobbin lace for the original "George Washington Mourning Epaulet."(Please see last picture)
The epaulette is a type of ornamental shoulder piece or decoration used as insignia of rank by armed forces and other organizations. In the French and other armies, epaulettes are also worn by all ranks of elite or ceremonial units when on parade. It may bear rank or other insignia, and should not be confused with a shoulder mark – also called a shoulder board, rank slide, or slip-on – a flat cloth sleeve worn on the shoulder strap of a uniform. Included is the signed numbered certificate explaining:The intricate/detailed handpainted image was taken from an original mourning epaulet believed to have been worn at one of the many public services from the time of Washington's death, of which few are known to survive today
The 14 kt foil covered Czech seed bead spangle is comprized of beads which were used to create the "George Washington Mourning Epaulet"
This Special Bobbin's TAIL is numbered...
    '39/200'&'J.C.'
(the artist, has also proudly left his/her initials)
The bobbin & spangle measures approx. 4 2/5"
BTW: It has a wonderful feel when used and lays well on the lace pillow
This unique piece would be a super gift for someone or yourself
Free 'USPS First Class Shipping' is included
I haven't tampered or done anything cosmetically, with it. I have attached a couple of pictures for your examination
